Thank you for your interest in supporting the Scholars with Diverse Abilities Program (SDAP)! There are a number of ways for campus and community members to become involved with the SDAP. The support network for SDAP Scholars is essential to providing a safe, inclusive and equitable experience for all students.
SDAP Best Buddies
Best Buddies support Scholars by helping them navigate their college experience, develop friendships and enhance their academic and social interaction skills.
College Life Peer Supports
College Life Peer Supports live on campus in the residence halls with Scholars and work together on building life skills and preparing for independent living after college.
Graduate Students
Several opportunities for working with SDAP are available to Graduate students, including Graduate and Teaching Assistantships and internships for MSW students.
Faculty Resources
Faculty and instructors provide a natural support for Scholars and their peers by providing academic guidance, advising and promotion of the program within the community.
Other SDAP Team Opportunities
SDAP welcomes interns from a variety of programs including the Bachelors in Social Work (BSW), Communications, and Exercise Science progams. Occasionally, SDAP offers work-study opportunities.
If you are interested in becoming an SDAP Team member, contact us directly at sdap@appstate.edu.
Giving to SDAP contributes directly to the program's missions of being completely inclusive, person-centered and mutually beneficial. Diverse learners creat engaged and meaningful learning experiences for those involved with the program, aligning with the University's vision. Gifts enable the creation of resources and ensure opportunities are available to all students.
