Join our volunteer group and become a natural support through the Appvocates club on campus.
The Appalachian Appvocates support the Scholars with Diverse Abilities Program through academic, social, and recreational experiences to promote advocacy and inclusivity for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) on the local, state and national level. You will see this vibrant group on campus and around the community during club expos, bowling nights, club meetings, costume parties, and much more.
What is a natural support?
These are relationships typically developed in the community and every day life that enhance the quality of life for people. As a natural support, you will become an integral part of the SDA Program. Volunteer your time with one of our scholars doing any of the following:
- attending class
- career development coach at internships
- going to social events
- eating meals together
- participating in recreational activities
- cheering on the Mountaineers at football games
- going to concerts
We support our volunteer supports through training and social events and our student organization, Appalachian Appvocates! Find them on AppSync today!
